April 2026 monthly highlights!

On Wednesday, April 15, a truly special night unfolded as we gathered to honor Worthy Brother Fred Durso (Field Agent, Knights of Columbus) at his much-anticipated gala. This evening was not just another event on the calendar; it was a celebration of dedication, service, and the profound impact Brother Fred has made within our community and the Knights of Columbus. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as attendees arrived, each person eager to show their appreciation for Fred's unwavering commitment and contributions. As the night progressed, it became clear that this was a momentous occasion, highlighted by the presentation of a prestigious award to Brother Fred, a well-deserved recognition of his hard work and leadership. Brother Fred embodies the qualities of a true Catholic gentleman.

On Thursday, April 16th, the Sancta Familia Council held a April Social Meeting to officially welcome four new members into its esteemed Sancta Familia Council. This event was not merely a formality; it was a celebration of shared values and the commitment to the principles that bind the council together.

The ceremony was thoughtfully designed to emphasize the core tenets of charity, unity, and fraternity. These principles are not just words; they reflect the heart and soul of the Sancta Familia Council, which has a long-standing tradition since 1995 of fostering a spirit of camaraderie and support among its members. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of purpose and reverence as the council members, families, and guests gathered to witness this significant occasion.

The weekend of April 17 through April 19, we proudly conducted our annual "Can Shake" event at Bottino's ShopRite, conveniently located on Egg Harbor Road. This event was not just a simple fundraiser; it was a heartfelt gathering aimed at raising awareness and support for children with disabilities. The "Can Shake" initiative is a significant part of our commitment to the community, and it serves as a platform to engage the public in a cause that is close to our hearts.

A remarkable number of Knights participated in this noble fundraiser, demonstrating their unwavering dedication to the cause. Their involvement was crucial, as they actively engaged with shoppers, sharing information about the Special Olympics and the positive impact that these funds would have on children with disabilities. The Knights worked tirelessly, standing at the entrance of the store, shaking cans, and encouraging customers to contribute. Their enthusiasm and commitment created a vibrant atmosphere, fostering a sense of community spirit and camaraderie among all involved.

Over the course of the weekend, the collective efforts of the Knights and the generosity of the community resulted in an impressive total of over $2,500 being raised. This amount is not only a testament to the hard work put in by all participants but also reflects the community's willingness to support a cause that enhances the lives of children with disabilities. The funds collected will go directly to Special Olympics, providing essential resources and opportunities for these children to participate in various sports and activities, promoting physical fitness, social inclusion, and personal growth. Finally, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, a significant event took place that underscored the commitment of the community towards supporting vital causes. Worthy Past Grand Knight Paul Dilks, took center stage to present a check for an impressive amount of $3,214. This substantial donation was directed to Ms. Colleen Gill, who serves as the South Jersey Outreach Coordinator for the Alzheimer's Association, an organization dedicated to advancing research, providing support, and raising awareness about Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

Ms. Colleen Gill expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the generous donation, emphasizing how vital such contributions are for funding research initiatives and support services for families dealing with Alzheimer's. She elaborated on the various programs that the Alzheimer's Association offers, including educational workshops, support groups, and advocacy efforts aimed at improving the quality of life for individuals diagnosed with the disease and their caregivers.

I couldn't be more honored or prouder of our council, the Church of the Holy Family Parish, and their families for all the love and support they have shown in our collective efforts to serve our charities and the community at large. The dedication and commitment displayed by each member of our council are truly inspiring, as they consistently go above and beyond to ensure that we can make a meaningful impact in the lives of those who are in need.

Every initiative we undertake is a testament to the unity and fraternity of our council 11498. Whether it’s organizing food drives, volunteering at local Veterans events, or providing assistance to families facing difficult circumstances, the unwavering support from our council plays a crucial role in the success of these council endeavors. Each member brings their unique talents and resources, contributing to a rich tapestry of service that enhances our outreach efforts.

Moreover, the spirit of generosity that permeates the Church of the Holy Family Parish extends beyond our immediate activities. It fosters a culture of compassion and empathy, encouraging others to join us in our mission to uplift those around us. The collaborative spirit that exists within our council and the broader parish community is a source of strength, allowing us to tackle challenges with resilience and hope.

As we reflect on our accomplishments and the lives we have touched, it is essential to recognize that this journey is not one we embark on alone. It is a collective effort, fueled by the love and support of families who believe in the importance of giving back. Together, we are creating a legacy of kindness and service that will resonate for generations to come, reinforcing the values of faith, community, and charity that lie at the heart of our mission. #KnightsofColumbus
