The Ginny Project started at Holy Family as “The Cry of the Poor” more than a decade ago when Ginny Licata began collecting sandwiches and snacks every Wednesday for distribution to the poor in Camden. She was soon joined by Steve Annucci. Over time, they began taking donations of gently used men’s clothing as well. Ginny and Steve became fixtures in the parking before the 9 am Mass every Wednesday, with their car trunks open and kind words for everyone they encountered.

After Ginny’s sudden passing last year, the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Holy Family adopted the ministry, renaming it the Ginny Project. Today, Steve and other SVdP members collect the donations every Wednesday and deliver them to the Volunteers of America shelter in Camden.

Recently, the Diocese of Camden honored Ginny and those who carry on her ministry with a Disciples of Mercy award.

We are deeply grateful to everyone in the parish who takes the time to prepare and deliver the food and clothing that is brought to Camden weekly. We also thank Fr. Bartoloma, Fr. Pham, Deacon Dean, and the parish staff for their support.
